Most Lake District glamping is run by people who own the land. That produces the best accommodation in the county and some of the worst websites, which is why an outside view is occasionally useful.

Eden Heights Glamping
Eden Valley near Appleby-in-Westmorland. Drier weather, wood-fired hot tubs, easy arrival by road and rail, and a genuine trade-off on distance from the high fells.
The Glamping Burrow Escape
An earth-sheltered burrow at The Quiet Site above Ullswater, sold as a two-night package. Unusual, warm, and the unit children remember for years.

How we review
Worth being explicit, because most glamping "reviews" online are affiliate content.
- We take no payment for coverage, no commission on bookings, and no free or discounted stays.
- We do not stay at every operator we describe. Where we have not, we say so implicitly by describing the model and the setting rather than claiming firsthand experience.
- We build descriptions from published information, planning and geographical context, and the general shape of public feedback across many reviews rather than any single one.
- We do not publish scores. A number out of ten for a two-pod farm is meaningless.
- Outbound links carry a nofollow attribute. Every one.
- We will correct anything wrong. Operators and guests can tell us, and we would rather be corrected than wrong.
Prices and amenities change constantly, so treat every figure on this site as editorial guidance and confirm with the operator before you travel.

The one thing that predicts a good stay
Across every operator type in the table above, the single best predictor of a good glamping stay is not the specification, the price or the star rating. It is how quickly and how well the owner answers a specific question before you book.
Email one thing you genuinely need to know — is the bed made up, is the tub private, can we arrive at three — and judge the reply. A clear answer within a few hours from someone who has read the question tells you the site is run properly. A vague answer three days later tells you what your week will be like.
