Who we are
Red Squirrel Glamping ("we", "us") operates the website at redsquirrelglamping.co.uk. We are an independent editorial guide to glamping in the Lake District. We are the data controller for personal data processed through this website.

What we collect

We do not ask for or knowingly collect payment details, dates of birth, health data or any other special category data. We do not operate a booking system, so we never handle your travel details.
Cookies and similar technologies
This site is built as static pages and does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own.
Two third-party services are loaded by our pages and may set cookies or process your IP address:
- Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces used on this site. Your browser requests the font files from Google's servers, which involves your IP address.
- Our hosting provider, which processes server logs including IP addresses for security and delivery purposes.
You can block third-party requests using your browser settings or an extension. The site will still work; the typefaces will fall back to Georgia and your system sans-serif.
Analytics
Where we use analytics, we use a privacy-respecting, aggregate-only service that does not set cross-site tracking cookies and does not build advertising profiles. We look at aggregate page popularity and nothing else. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors.
Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
We share the minimum necessary with:
- Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its server logs
- Our email provider, which stores the messages you send us
- Google, in the limited sense described above, when your browser fetches font files
- A regulator, court or law enforcement body where we are legally required to
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, transfers rely on the UK adequacy regulations or on the International Data Transfer Agreement or an equivalent safeguard.
How long we keep things
- Email correspondence: up to 24 months after the last message, then deleted, unless it forms part of a correction record we need to keep.
- Server logs: typically 30 to 90 days.
- Aggregate analytics: retained without any identifier that could point to you.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Be told what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Have your data erased, where we have no overriding reason to keep it
- Restrict how we use your data
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Receive your data in a portable format, where applicable
- Withdraw consent, where we relied on consent
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity, which for an email-based request usually means replying from the address in question.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you raised it with us first, but that is your call.
External links
This site links to third-party websites, including operators, national bodies and booking platforms. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we have no control over them. All our outbound links carry a nofollow attribute, which is an SEO signal rather than a privacy measure — once you click through, you are subject to that site's practices.
Children
This site is aimed at adults planning holidays. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. We keep the number of systems holding personal data as small as possible, which is the most effective security measure available to a project this size. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change, and we will change the "last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be summarised here for a reasonable period.
